Fable Anniversary - Frontend Menu

Fable Anniversary is a remastering of the Fable The Lost Chapters, which is now 10 years old! I was tasked with creating a remastered user interface which would honour the original game while still achieving a freshness which suits the current generation of consoles and PC systems.

One of the first screens players are greeted with is the Press Start screen. There are 4 possible scenes which are randomly displayed each time you load the game, each with their own subtle animations to bring the environment to life. The Press Start screen transitions to the frontend menu which takes the shape of a book. Every player is starting their own story as a hero, as they progress through the game every action is documented and their own story book is made. The frontend menu also inspired the design for the collectors edition strategy guide made by Prima Games.

The UI is placed on top of a 3D model of the book and positioned using render targets, this allowed us to create realistic page turning animations as the player navigates through different pages.

Many Achievements have an either/or element to them, whichever choice the player makes will show the stamp image that is relevant to their actions in the game.
